Children’s education

The As Sunnah Mezquita hosts full-time and part-time education for children.

Founded in April 2018, Saturday Islamic School (SIS) aims to educate Muslim girls and boys about Islam. This initiative to educate children about their culture and belief is very distinct and differs greatly from many of the commonly found traditional approaches. The model pioneered by SIS is now being replicated by others.

SIS teaches children about Islam so that they can grow up as confident Muslims, successful human beings and responsible citizens. SIS has an emphasis on social learning and learning through play. It works in strong partnership with parents and mainstream schools.

The learning at SIS is underpinned by its five values that are represented by the acronym SALAM an Arabic word which means peace.

S – for a smile and being respectful
A – always trying and doing our best
L – learning to read and write
A – being ambitious in this life and the Hereafter
M – being mindful and honest

The aim of Saturday Islamic School is to equip children aged 6½ to 15 years (both girls and boys) with essential knowledge and understanding of Islam so that they are able to make choices and lead an Islamic Way of Life.

The education provided aims to ensure that children grow up as confident Muslim individuals who are successful in this world and in the Hereafter; and are effective as responsible citizens in the community in which they live.
